Inspired by Denguza, a red, yellow, and black patterned traditional dress of the Gamo, an ethnic group located in the Gamo highlands of Southern Ethiopia; Meklit.Me’s Denguza print narrates the lifestyle of these ethnic groups and the wider Southern Ethiopia. It chants their pride and patriotism in black, gold, grey, and white patterns. Adorned in the African Leopard skin rug that the men wear across their shoulders, the print signifies bravery. It demonstrates African heroism and strength with designs of the traditional Gamo Armor that shields them mainly from wild animals and their enemies while it promotes the Nation through the script “Ethiopia” written in both Amharic and English across the overall pattern.
